“600 years ago there existed a fascinating creative cluster in the Banni region of Gujarat, Asia’s largest grassland. Some of the textile and embroidery traditions from here have reached the fashion ramps of New York, Paris, Milan, and London, even Hollywood. But originally they were meant for the cattle and buffalo herders of Banni. What the artisans got in return then was milk, butter, ghee (clarified butter), curd and other milk products.”

The Quilt Making & Mukko Embroidery Workshop celebrates the centuries old bonds of Banni and its textile traditions.
