There’s a saying in South India, “One is fortunate to eat like a Chettiyar.” A traditional Chettinad meal is an elaborate affair that consists of no less than seven courses, each meal a careful balance of flavours, textures and colours. The fact that the food is spicy is a myth as an authentic Chettinad fare typically uses more coriander seeds than chilli in its recipes.”
During a Cooking Demonstration at The Bangala in Karaikudi, watch your host prepare the traditional Chettinadu dishes in a kitchen looking onto the garden and eat like a local on a banana leaf.
