Beyond The Taj Mahal - Tales from across the River
Agra’s riverside wonders
Agra
“Mehtab Bagh, also known as the ‘Moonlight Garden,’ was originally created by Mughal Emperor Babur in the 16th century, as part of his vision for a series of lush gardens along River Yamuna. Shah Jahan, who built the Taj Mahal in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, expanded this garden positioned directly across from the Taj Mahal to create a stunning view of the monument. The garden was designed to reflect the symmetry and grandeur of the Taj in the river’s waters. Today it has become a serene vantage point for the guests to marvel at the breathtaking architecture of Taj Mahal at sunset.”
Venture across River Yamuna to discover Agra’s lesser-known treasures, including gardens, ancient tombs, and architectural gems from the pre-Taj era.
