Firebrand Queens of Bhopal

Bhopal

Nawab Nazar Mohammad Khan ruled the princely state of Bhopal from 1816 to 1819. On 10th November 1819, his eight-year-old cousin, Faujdar Mohammad Khan, while playing with a loaded pistol, shot Nazar “accidently” in the temple, killing him instantly. Then, in perhaps the most dramatic event in Bhopal’s history, the young widow Qudsia took centre-stage by taking off her veil and addressing the gathering as Nazar’s widow. Qudsia proclaimed herself as Regent on behalf of their fifteen-month-old daughter Sikandar as rightful heir. Thus began the rule of the four Begums of Bhopal that lasted for 107 years.

Delve into the fascinating and enticing stories of the erstwhile princely state during our Begums of Bhopal experience.
